When we study the last days, the most important truth to remember is this: Jesus repeatedly emphasized that we must stay ready. He never told us we need to understand every detail of every prophecy. He simply said, “Be ready.”

There is much debate in the Christian world about whether the Church will go through the tribulation or not. But the real question is far more important:
If the Church does go through the tribulation — will you be ready?
Or if the Lord comes before the tribulation — will you be ready?

Having correct doctrine is not enough. If you are not living in readiness, the Second Coming of Christ will be a sorrowful day for you.

We should not live holy lives only because Jesus might return soon. Death can come at any moment, and in an instant we can stand before Him. The Second Coming is not the reason we are called to live holy lives. Jesus never said, “I may come suddenly — therefore obey Me.” He said, “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.”

Obedience that does not flow from love for Christ has no real value. Only love for Jesus produces true obedience.

This book is not written to frighten you into living a holy life. We are called to live holy lives whether Christ returns in our lifetime or many years from now.

I love the Lord Jesus and desire to obey all His commandments because He first loved me and gave Himself for me. It is my heartfelt prayer that this book will be a blessing and a help in your life.

About the Authors
Jack and Annie Poonen have been serving the Lord in India for nearly 56 years. Through making disciples and planting churches in India and abroad, they have been used by God to build the Church of Jesus Christ. Jack is a former naval officer. Annie is a medical doctor. They have four married sons, all of whom are disciples of the Lord Jesus.
